Part of my on going abstract series made in my Sydney studio. These works are layers of oil painting built up over a few weeks, Until I'm satisfied with the composition and colours.
Traces of figurative and cityscape elements can be found in the paintings,as many often get covered up over the process of layering. A push a pull between abstraction and representation.

« I'm a multi-disciplinary painter working on 2 concurrent series, this abstract series, alongside my realistic peoplescape series. »
Tyrone Layne, a painter based in New Zealand, has exhibited his art nationally, as well as in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States. A figurative artist at heart, he began exploring abstract painting in 2017. In these compositions, figurative elements are still evident and contain suggestions of both bodies and cityscapes. Layne spends weeks building up layers of thickly applied oils until he is satisfied with the composition and color combinations.
