About this artwork
The development, both mentally and process-wise, can be read off wonderfully from the individual documented photos. As usual, the artist started with structuring the surface with graphite and gesso and then approached the line itself through color and shape. First there was the abstract picture - with free color areas, laid out in oil paints, blurred, blurred, accented again with graphite. Then the artist applied the first lines with white oil paint…
straight from the tube, with energetic swing, almost text-like elements that move freely across the colors. After the longer drying time, additional sweeping lines were "written" with a wide acrylic pen. That alone did not seem perfect enough for the artist and she used her own printing technique to apply abstract floral motifs in strong colors. The hymn to the line is completed by the application of white lines and drops in acrylic.
