Canadian artist Valérie Gilbert has always been fascinated by portraits, and has channelled that fascination into her art. She works to capture the gaze of the subject to the viewer, creating a series of vivid, expressive portraits of humans and animals. Gilbert uses acrylic on canvas, and creates a watercolor effect by adding touches of bright colors diluted with water. Through her art, Gilbert hopes to portray the beauty of living.
