About this artwork
This is my 4th work, this striking sculpture opens a series entitled "Cancer of the
life". This work, both striking and disturbing, depicts the face of a
man whose non-existent gaze symbolizes humanity's loss of soul and direction.
The molten aluminum, which partially envelops this human face, becomes a visceral metaphor for the "cancer" that humanity represents for life on Earth, highlighting our tendency towards self-destruction.
This fusion… of materials creates an impression of strangeness, of partial decomposition, like a disintegrated helmet covering the face. The irregular shapes and brutal textures recall the darkness and the capacity for self-destruction that lie dormant
in each of us, exacerbated in certain situations by our own behavior.
“Humanity’s Collapse” is not just a sculpture; it is a powerful reflection
on our existence and our impact on the world.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Valentin Saccard, a sculptor with the soul and passion of a child, mainly uses aluminum, which he melts himself, and dead wood for his works. His style is nourished by contrasts - ying and yang, black and white, wood and metal - which resurrect the beauty of nature. Respectful of life, he sublimates the ecological tragedy by evoking man's irreverence towards nature in his creations, thus inspiring reflection and philosophy.
