About this artwork
This is my 7th work, it represents the face of a male silverback gorilla.
The first special feature of this solid aluminum sculpture is the brass eyes.
In fact, depending on the angle of view, the animal's expression changes from anger to sadness.
then resignation.
This expression that I wanted to give him echoes the second particularity which is,
the openwork parts at the level of the gorilla's cheeks.
This detail represents the threat of… extinction that weighs on this species.
This sculpture reflects, in my eyes, nature which seems to be deteriorating or even dissolving.
an alarming rate.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Valentin Saccard, a sculptor with the soul and passion of a child, mainly uses aluminum, which he melts himself, and dead wood for his works. His style is nourished by contrasts - ying and yang, black and white, wood and metal - which resurrect the beauty of nature. Respectful of life, he sublimates the ecological tragedy by evoking man's irreverence towards nature in his creations, thus inspiring reflection and philosophy.
