About this artwork
When I saw this mural - Creation of Adam by the Italian artist Michelangelo, which is part of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, I realized that I want to interpret this composition and illustrate the biblical story of the creation of the world through the eyes of a modern artist.

Valentina Kisseleva is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Belarus, Russia, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Puerto Rico. She cites the creative process as being her only connection with the world and fabricates her own universe, "disappearing in its expression". Her figurative, geometric, animal portraits and still-lifes are created using oils on canvas.
