About this artwork
Returning to the past, to the years of my youth, to the years of my first love through a self-portrait. Youth was the time of formation of my character; it was full of contradictory searches for myself as an individual, and it was also a time of discovery of my ideals, creative quests and disappointments.

Valentina Kisseleva is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Belarus, Russia, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Puerto Rico. She cites the creative process as being her only connection with the world and fabricates her own universe, "disappearing in its expression". Her figurative, geometric, animal portraits and still-lifes are created using oils on canvas.
