About this artwork
This work is born from a dense layering of acrylic pigments, spread to create a horizon of vibrant shades that represent the complexity of our experiences, the dialogue between what we show on the surface and what lies deep within.
The central element of my process here is the sgraffito technique.
Using a spatula, I worked on the fresh material to create linear patterns that run across the canvas.
These incisions are symbolic wounds and furrows… of awareness: they represent the active action of the individual who digs within himself to find a direction, it is the visual story of a balance that is achieved and recalibrated through an act of strength and precision.
This work is an invitation to observe how, precisely through the 'cuts' and transformations of our identity, we can restore a new form and a new order to our inner world.

Valeria Pianese, who signs her works with the pseudonym “Berry,” is a Neapolitan artist living in Zurich whose visual research explores the relationship between color, emotion, symbolism, and consciousness as the primary means to peer into the depths of the human soul.
Influenced by Mediterranean European culture and literature and by an interest in behavioral psychology, Valeria conceives art not only as a tool for investigating experience and reality, but also as an inner transformation and a process of ongoing research.
His technique is characterized by an experimental and intuitive approach that combines chromatic layering and active painting, creating material surfaces and compositions vibrant with energy between abstraction and emotion.
His works therefore move in a liminal space between sensory perception and philosophical reflection, inviting the viewer to question the way images influence the way we feel and understand the world.
