About this artwork
The lakes near Gouda in the Netherlands are a constant source of inspiration for me throughout the year. This unique area, with its distinct character, features no fewer than 13 lakes, all separated by narrow country roads. It's the perfect place for long walks and exploring nature. The lakes and surrounding polders are a true paradise for meadow and water birds, as well as for those eager to spot them.
This painting, created on a panel with sides… 9 cm deep, can stand on a shelf without the need for framing.
« My works represent my instinctive colour theory and are a channel to my inner self. »
Vania Bouwmeester Pentcheva is an established Bulgarian artist based in the Netherlands who has exhibited her work nationally, as well as in South Africa. Moved and inspired by nature, including its presence in urban landscapes, she explores her emotions, memories and philosophical thoughts through the composition of abstract paintings full of dynamic shapes and colours. Textures and colours spontaneously arrive on the canvas, though structured layering is carefully thought out.
