Extreme pressure and temperature, over extreme period of time create cores of concentrated energy. These are purified by the fire, hardened by the pressure and once light is added to the equation they come alive. “Gemstones” collection of paintings captures the way I imagine this creation come about.

« I like to paint what I see when I close my eyes. The reality accessed with closed eyes or in a lucid dream is personal and although with limitations, painting is the best way to try to communicate it. »
Vasco Kirov is an experienced Bulgarian painter living in South Africa whose works have been exhibited internationally. After a formal education in music and working in other artistic fields as a blacksmith, knife maker, and jeweler, Kirov turned to painting as another means of creative expression. His paintings are inspired by his dreams and visualisations, using vibrant colors and textures to create striking universes on canvas. Some of his work also incorporates stainless steel mixed media as a way to blur the line between art and craft.
