About this artwork
Seven of Wands mean that your creativity has encountered serious difficulties and has overcome them all with it's fiery power. Seven of Wands is dedicated to a very special and creative girl. Let's call her angel Anuel. She defeated her difficult illness by creating tirelessly. She adored paper crafts and pastel colors, her fingers never rested from early morning until late evening. That is why two silvery origami dragons, which Anuela herself loved… to make, have flown to the bottom of the painting. The dark tree, whose roots stretch into the ground and whose crown reaches into the sky, comes from qigong meditation, during which a person imagines oneself as a tree – gigantic, tranquil, and eternal as the universe. Creativity requires a lot of energy, but it gives even more in return, which is why the ever-growing tree embodies creative energy in several of the Wands paintings.
Velta Emīlija Platupe is a multi-faceted Latvian artist, passionately utilizing textiles, paper, and flowing pigments in painting, sculpture, and other visual media. Her fondness for aquatint technique and soft, mobile forms reveal a playful intersection of found and reused materials, crystalline accents, and gilt. Engaging with symbolism, surrealism, baroque, and magic, she juxtaposes the beautiful and the terrible, weaving unspoken stories onto canvases. Her artwork invites viewers into a challenging yet comfortable universe, reflecting her belief that art is a sanctuary and a way to depict her utopia.
