About this artwork
This is the second time I've tried to paint Temperance. Balance, peace and serenity are difficult qualities to grasp for me. Here it is at last, a scene hidden in green shadows. Two sisters dance in a dark, secret lake, trying to hold the world in balance. They are calling a rainbow from tiny drops of water. All small children love to draw rainbows; perhaps it's the bright colors of the spectrum that make them cheerful and lovable. I also wanted…
to try drawing rainbows. It feels very good and peaceful, I could draw them every day. Everyone should try it. One just needs to be calm, have a steady hand and bright colors. The Balance card is associated with the zodiac sign Sagittarius, so the dancing sisters are protected by two spirits - hunters with arrows and bows. In the universe of Temperance, everyone cares for each other, so a merganser duck swims by with her fluffy duckling on her back. Tiny as she is, she protects everyone at the scene.
