About this artwork
In this painting, the sea distance acquires more mystery, magnetism and attractiveness. I really love the theme of the world. I will be tempted to watch the waves, wonder how the colours of the sky and the sea change, how sometimes it seems that there is no horizon and the sea goes straight into the sky. Only the cries of the seagulls bring me back to land.
It… has a sense of something very romantic, inspiring. It is close to impressionism or expressionism style, with bright colours and warming mood. The artwork is painted pasty, with thick strokes, the texture of the paint is visible. The painting was created in an unusual manner for me. I was inspired by an artwork of Peter Beeson. The overall plot echoes his artwork. I wanted to experiment with technique, try a new style of painting.

Vera Bondare is a Latvian painter whose works have been widely exhibited nationally as well as in Russia. She believes that a contemporary artist cannot 'go forward' without knowing the past and the roots of art. As a result, Bondare's style combines traditional techniques with the new visual experience of her own emotions. Her works are created using oils on canvas or linen.
