About this artwork
The term is a synonym for falsification, but also the refutation of a statement by a counterexample.
It's been bothering me for a long time that we now live in a world of lies and deception. You have to question everything because nothing is "real" anymore. Whether it's advertising that promises you the moon or the latest news, which is almost entirely propaganda.
Humanity has created an artificial world: artificial turf, artificial meat, and now… artificial intelligence...
Even the influencers who present us with their beautiful, perfect world are often computer-designed avatars.
Everything has to be critically examined. Nothing seems real anymore. The artificially created world is supposed to be more perfect than reality, but that often makes it boring.
William Shakespeare already said in his "The Merchant of Venice": All that glitters is not gold!
Not everything that glitters is gold!
Vera Fischer works with painting, particularly watercolor and gouache, and incorporates her culturally rich background in Moscow and her experiences in Germany into her works. Her technique powerfully oscillates between Art Nouveau, Surrealism, and Realism; she is guided by historical and literary influences and reinterprets various styles. Her art reflects existential themes such as change, courage, beauty, and humanity, inviting viewers emotionally and intellectually to engage in dialogue and hope for a more beautiful world.
