About this artwork
According to legend, Buddha was born on May 26 in 623 BC, on the same day he attained enlightenment in 543 BC. on the same day he died, reaching full nirvana. Thus, all three major events in the life of the Buddha are simultaneously celebrated.
Shakyamuni Buddha is also known as Siddhartha (proper name) and Gautama (generic name). He was the son of Shuddhodan from the Gautam clan, Shakyas (hence Shakyamuni - "a hermit from the Shakya tribe"). Born… in the village of Lumbini (now the territory of Nepal). After the birth of his son, at the age of 29, Prince Siddharthail spent the rest of his secular life and went in search of Truth. Asceticism and selfless devotion do not lead him to the goal. Then he chooses the "Middle Way".
