About this artwork
An original coloured pencil and gouache painting of a thylacine (an extinct species commonly known as the Tasmanian Tiger).
Inspired by the precision and dynamism of animal artists such as George Stubbs. Throughout production, relentless attention was paid to anatomical detail to maximise scientific merit. Quite simply, the intention was to produce nothing short of a definitive image of a life-size thylacine.

"My artwork is often true to nature. I enjoy working from first-hand experience and reference. Careful research is undertaken before each project, including visits to museum collections and specific locations.
Whilst I aim for accurate representation, my work emanates a sense of spirit and place; there's always an element of personal reflection and response."
