When the artist creates a portrait, she uses initial references which, sometimes, is a physical model, a photograph. Or else, she makes up her own clay model, which she studies in diverse sources of light and views. This latter method is the one she used for this work.

« My interest as a visual artist is to grasp the desperate beauty within abnormality, as well as to picture its effects in human life, in human experience. »
Veronica Huacuja is a Mexican artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United Kingdom. She describes her blend of figurative and abstract artworks as being "obscure", depicting the human condition. Huacuja explores humanity and its precarious conditions through temporality, decadence, illness, and pain. She employs medical studies performed on anonymous, sick, or genderless people as inspiration, and refers to the results of her compositions as, “Human Landscapes”.
