About this artwork
Ich habe eine der bekanntesten Ecken von Paris in einem Moment der Stille festgehalten. La Maison Rose, das kleine rosafarbene Haus aus dem späten 19. Jahrhundert, hat mich sofort verzaubert – ein Ort, den schon viele Künstler vor mir gezeichnet haben.
In meiner Darstellung ist das lebendige Treiben von Montmartre verschwunden. Geblieben sind Linien, Rhythmus und Erinnerung. Die Laterne im Vordergrund führt den Blick über das Kopfsteinpflaster hin… zu der Fassade, die mit ihrer Schlichtheit und Anmut im Kontrast zum städtischen Leben steht.
Ich wollte nicht die Bewegung zeigen, sondern die Atmosphäre – den leisen Nachhall eines Ortes, an dem der Geist der Künstler von Montmartre noch spürbar ist.
