About this artwork
Appa performed his interpretation of Botticelli's famous "Birth of Venus".
The artist focused on the face of Venus, an angel face and completely iconic.
Her face as well as her golden hair was made from torn paper and gold spray paint.
The contrast between the classical theme and the medium used is of great interest to the artist.
Appa also plays on the paradoxes of style by framing the work with a frame from the beginning of the 20th century,… still in its own juice (green mat with a velvet aspect).
This work made on a thick cardboard support is 39x49cm in size. The frame measures 53x63cm.
Work sold with certificate of authenticity.

Verssan is an award-winning draftsman based in France whose works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. His central theme is the human body, "in all its sensuality and eroticism". Verssan pays special attention to detail, endeavoring to "get closer to realism", giving life to his subjects. Most of his compositions are left unfinished, these voids allow room for imagination and dreams. He creates with pastels on paper.
