About this artwork
I got the urge to use a lot of Earth Violet in one painting, an oil color made as part of project using iron oxides filtered from a stream from an abandoned mine. After the oxides are filtered out, the clean water is returned to the stream and the iron powder is used to create rich earth toned oil paint. I have one tube which was given to the supporters of the Kick Start project. It was formulated by Gamblin Artist Colors in support of this project…
by artist John Sabraw. You can find out more about the project, by googling John's name. (I'm not permitted to include a live link here.)
I painted this on smooth aluminum panel. I also used gold oil, so this not only explores the earthy violet but also how the colors work against the silver of the aluminum registers as white in the side view of this painting in the photos) and mixed with gold paint. Sealed with Gamblin GamVar
Signed on the front and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
