About this artwork
The work "Sunset" from the series "Skies that Stay with Me" is one of the central pieces in this collection. The semi-abstract and soft forms express my warm feelings towards my native sky, capturing childhood memories that have left a deep impression on me. The sky has always captivated me, and I could spend a long time observing its changes.
As a forced emigrant, these feelings have only intensified. The sky has become more than just a natural… phenomenon; it has taken on the status of a cherished, pure, and bright symbol from my childhood. The soft clouds in the painting seem to lull and transport me back to a happier time, highlighting the importance of this sky in my life.
The sunset depicted in the work symbolizes not just an ending but also the beginning of something new. It represents not an end but the start of a new day after sleep, carrying hope for a brighter future. The piece was showcased at the "Art Artist 2024" exhibition in Düsseldorf.
