About this artwork
"I painted this vibrant scene, capturing the fiery energy of a sunset over the ocean. I really focused on making the sky explode with color, from the deep reds and oranges of the clouds to the brilliant yellow of the sun setting on the horizon. I wanted the ocean to feel alive too, with those dynamic white waves crashing against the shore and the dark, textured rocks on the right. I love how the blues of the water play against the warm tones of the…
sky, and I tried to bring out that contrast with every palette knife stroke, especially using thick impasto to give the water and clouds a lot of texture and movement. The sandy beach in the foreground provides a calmer counterpoint to the dramatic sky and waves, creating a sense of both power and tranquility."
