About this artwork
Erased History
Memory without words.
This piece is like a trace left on the wall of time. Everything that once was has vanished — only hints remain: rough brushstrokes, blurred contours, muted tones. It is not an image, but a feeling. Not a narrative, but an echo.
In Erased History, the viewer becomes an archaeologist — observing, guessing, filling in the gaps. Somewhere here, there was once life, once meaning — but now, only a surface remains,… one that has endured everything and forgotten it all.
An invitation not to remember, but to feel: what remains when all else fades?
Viki Smoliar, born in an artistic Ukrainian family, disciplines herself in painting enriched by cinematic luminance. Embracing mixed media techniques, she layers paints, initiating a dialogue between tradition and self-expression, gradually evoking depth and transformation. Her work is a pursuit of harmony, expressing sensations, and emotional states through color and texture interplays. Smoliar captures the transient beauty of light, shadow, and time's trace, conveying the dynamics of change and the hidden life beneath apparent surfaces.
