About this artwork
The soft, almost transparent appearance of a woman emerges from a light haze, like a memory that is difficult to retain. Her face, pale and ethereal, is lost in the haze, like a reflection in a fogged mirror. A wide cloud of hair, made in warm autumn tones, seems like a crown of light, the last imprint of her presence in this world.
The work "She was the light" belongs to the series "Faces that Disappear", in which the artist explores the theme… of erasing identity and elusive memory. These images are ghostly, barely noticeable, painted using the technique of soft diffused brushstroke, where each face becomes a part of the air, light and time.
