About this artwork
Lighthouse…
It stands alone amidst the raging waves, like a guardian of time—unyielding and devoted to its purpose. For some, it is a guiding star, a beacon of hope in the night, a light that leads the way home. For others, it is a quiet house, surrounded by an endless horizon where the wind whispers its ancient stories.
The lighthouse keeper is a man between two worlds. His life is the rhythm of the waves, the murmur of the wind, and the endless… light cutting through the darkness. Solitude here is not a burden but a companion, offering the chance to listen to oneself, to gaze into the horizon, and to understand the meaning of silence.
But does this solitude heal, or does it wound? It all depends on the keeper’s heart. Some find peace, freedom, and harmony in this place. Others dissolve into the silence, becoming part of the restless wind.
And the lighthouse… It keeps burning. Always. No matter who is there to see its light.
Trained in the Soviet Union, Viktoria Dragon, now based in Finland, utilizes diverse mediums such as oil, acrylic, and mixed media. Her unique abstract and symbolic style, which straddles surrealism and abstraction, is forged through meticulous research and courageous self-expression, each stroke and color choice a deliberate decision. Dragon's art, deeply rooted in personal experiences and societal commentaries, cascades an emotional roller coaster ride, prompting introspection and generation of distinct narratives by viewers.
