About this artwork
Title : Bars & Forms
An uplifting assemblage of forms connected by metal rods.
The forms loosely interact with one another in colour and shape. The hardedge paintwork on the forms is expressed intuitively.
Three of the forms have a base of plywood and a top cover 5mm coloured plexiglas.
The overall feel of the piece draws on nature, the organic shapes of the forms the lines in the painting. The counter to this are the clean lines of the bars… moving vertically and horizontally.
This piece measures:
Height: 23 inches (58cm)
Width: 17 inches (43cm)
Depth: 0.5 inches (1.5cm)
A recessed keyhole slot is installed on the back. The piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall.
The artwork is signed and dated on the reverse side.

Vince Smith is an experienced sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in England. He cites "anti-painting" as being at the core of his artistic practice, as his vibrant sculptural pieces can be hung vertically. Smith is fascinated by the many possibilities in varying depth and overall shape, particularly when set against the "very stayed practice of painting on a square". He primarily creates with wood and acrylics.
