About this artwork
Title: The Bends
From a central slab of thick birch ply, connected by metal rods, seven smaller pieces are suspended around and above the centre slab. Each rod has been shaped to accentuate the elegance of the curve.
The wood pieces have been drilled and the rods are glued tightly into their respective holes.
The colours on the tops and sides combined with contrasting materials make this a compelling piece.
This piece measures:
Height: 15… inches (38cm)
Width: 16 inches (41cm)
Depth: 3 inches (7.5cm)
I have installed a recessed keyhole slot on the back. The piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall.
I have signed and dated the artwork on the back.
*SHIPPING*
The piece is shipped in a custom made wood crate, ensuring safe passage.

« Find the center of your niche and build a bubble around it. Let the light in and out. »
Vince Smith is an experienced sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in England. He cites "anti-painting" as being at the core of his artistic practice, as his vibrant sculptural pieces can be hung vertically. Smith is fascinated by the many possibilities in varying depth and overall shape, particularly when set against the "very stayed practice of painting on a square". He primarily creates with wood and acrylics.
