About this artwork
This work explores the levels and thicknesses of the material. In some cases the ply bridges over pieces of ply and at other times the large thickness of ply works to create movement from the level plane.
Using a 'hardedge' technique of painting , two meandering lines run the length and breadth of the piece, joining one another at a T junction in the lower quarter.
An uplifting piece with a real bouncy palette ~ a joy bringer.
Two recessed keyhole… slots are installed on the back for the option of horizontal or vertical. The piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall.

Vince Smith is an experienced sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in England. He cites "anti-painting" as being at the core of his artistic practice, as his vibrant sculptural pieces can be hung vertically. Smith is fascinated by the many possibilities in varying depth and overall shape, particularly when set against the "very stayed practice of painting on a square". He primarily creates with wood and acrylics.
