About this artwork
Mela is a work that plays with the subtle balance between sensuality and irony, without ever falling into the trap of complacency. The composition is bold yet controlled: the female body is fragmented, reduced to an iconic and recognizable portion, while the apple becomes a silent yet powerful symbol, laden with cultural and archetypal references.
The choice to mix oil and acrylic gives the painting a dual character: on the one hand, the softness… and chromatic depth of the flesh, on the other, a certain contemporary dryness in the background, which doesn't distract but rather supports the scene. The warm skin tones emerge decisively against a neutral, textured background, creating an elegant and deliberately essential contrast.
My name is Vincenzo Raimondo, I live and work in Palermo, a city of contradictions that profoundly influence my vision. I'm a self-taught artist, and my painting doesn't follow a fixed style: it evolves over time, along with my experiences and personal maturity. My work stems from observing everyday life and listening to emotions, which is why I tackle diverse themes and continually experiment with new languages, allowing each piece to find its own form.
My art is instinctive, essential, and imperfect, rooted in the complexity of humanity and nature. I don't seek perfection, because it doesn't belong to reality. Imperfections become part of the work: rough marks, dirty or scratched surfaces are traces of the creative process and my identity. I love what is authentic and lived-in. For me, art isn't decoration, but presence, accessible and sincere, capable of connecting with the viewer.
