About this artwork
Large format: 70 x 100 cm. Desire for something new: the rediscovery of a few pictures from 30-40 years ago in his studio inspired the artist to paint people again, just in between, without losing his love of abstraction.
A previous model left him some photos via WhatsApp. He selected and painted 4 of them.
This series of different portraits on large-format FABRIANO paper, 70 x 100 cm, is now complete.
It all started with “Woman With Cat”, now… “Portrait Of A Woman”.
This portrait was drawn exclusively with colored pencils.
Dated and signed on the front, additionally titled, dated and signed on the reverse.

Volker Mayr is a German painter who initially started with figurative works under the influence of his grandfather, who was himself a painter. Today, his abstract oil paintings with pasty paint application on white primed canvas inspire his collectors. His compositions have a strong luminosity, which can be rediscovered again and again depending on the lighting situation. Similar to a composer with music, he arranges the colors on the canvas to create a harmonious overall concept.
