In the work HÖLLENTOR 5681, I harnessed the raw energy of the chainsaw to create a vibrant, almost mystical depth as a relief in a wooden panel, which I then painted. The velvety turquoise and violet tones symbolize a mysterious connection between nature and spirit. This wall object draws the viewer into a world of movement and emotion.
2017 was a year in which everything seemed conceivable and… possible. My energy and imagination were correspondingly boundless. Most of these painted chainsaw-carved plywood reliefs from 2017 I've never shown outside of my workshop at the time. To be honest: I simply "forgot" about them! Erased them. From my memory. Which was perfectly acceptable for many years. But not anymore in 2016. Therefore: Thank you so much, Kate! For bringing these works back to my attention!
