About this artwork
This painting captures the uplands of Lebanon, where life unfolds in its simplest and most authentic form. In these hills, people live closely with their land and herds, holding onto traditions that shape their everyday rhythm. Farmers gather to sell their harvest, while traders call out proudly, offering handmade crafts and fresh field products. From a distance, the sweet aroma of village delicacies drifts through the air, calling children to run,… play, and enjoy their favorite treats.
In this piece, I poured my love for vibrant village life and vintage charm, blending expressive brushstrokes with a comic rhythm to bring everyday scenes alive. Each character and detail radiates warmth, capturing lively stories and nostalgia. Hanging this painting will fill your space with joyful energy and a whimsical sense of community and timelessness. It is a celebration of life’s small, colorful moments, where human connection, tradition, and simplicity become one living memory on wood.
Wael Hamadeh, a Lebanese painter, sculptor, and conceptual artist, works with mixed media, wood, driftwood, and reclaimed materials, drawing from his Mediterranean and village heritage. His technique fuses Oriental Surrealism with narrative symbolism, blending detailed, tactile compositions and dreamlike imagery that capture the essence of Lebanese culture and memory. Through his emotionally layered works, he evokes nostalgia, resilience, and hope, inviting viewers to feel the bonds between identity, community, and the enduring spirit of place.
