About this artwork
Abundance: The Layers of Time is an exploration of how experiences accumulate — not in neat, linear sequences, but in overlapping currents of color, gesture, and memory. This work was commenced several years ago and it has been developing with each translucent wash that settles over the last like a moment revisited, shifting in meaning as new layers form. The looping lines thread through these fields of color as traces of thought, movement, and intuition,…
marking the places where the past and present meet.
The work embraces the idea that abundance not in excesses but is quiet richness that emerges when time is allowed to build upon itself. What begins as a single mark becomes a conversation, and what appears spontaneous carries the weight of everything beneath it. The painting invites viewers to slow down, to notice how depth is created through accumulation, and to find their own sense of continuity within the layers.

Wendy Grace holds an Honours degree in Painting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. An accomplished Australian artist renowned for her vibrant abstract compositions, command of colour and instinctive grasp of spatial relationships. Her artworks are deeply influenced by nature and urban dynamics, as she seeks to push the boundaries of her work to find new ways to convey meaning and emotion. She says of Abstract painting that, “she is able to use everyday experiences and encounters with people and the environment in her work, to create a space to explore pathways to the imaginary,” offering the viewer a dynamic interplay of colour and pattern.
