About this artwork
Wooden object.
This work was devised when Werner was taking apart an old paper cutting machine from which he needed parts for a work called 'Tourniquette'. A shape emerged which has slight reference to some form of functionality, but the clues given lead nowhere concrete.
Can be displayed in several positions due to it being an object..

« I tend to want the result to be abstract so that the viewer has the possibility of not having any associations with what's recognizable. »
Werner Konings is a sculptor based in the Netherlands whose works have been exhibited nationally. The forms of his minimalistic pieces are frequently derived from functional objects or machines. Konings subtracts as many functional characteristics as possible in order to allow a basic and archetypical shape remain. His distinctive compositions are most often created using wood and metal.
