About this artwork
Line-up is where surfers position themselves on the surfboards, scanning the horizon for unbroken, so-called green waves. It is a moment of rest, a time to look towards the horizon line, engage in meditative searching for shadows and ripples on the water (swell lines), have lazy conversations and gather strength after the exhausting paddle-out. It’s also time of preparation for the upcoming confrontation with the ocean, tinged with a sense of unease… about what the element might bring.
The quote from Atomic Habits "Happiness is the space between one’s desire being fulfilled and a new desire forming" perfectly captures the moment between catching waves in surfing. After the fulfillment of catching one wave, the surfer enters a space of waiting, feeling calm, yet already a new desire to step out of the comfort zone emerges. This fleeting moment between desires, full of reflection and peace, brings a sense of happiness and fulfillment.
Weronika Bowżyk is an abstract artist specializing in textured painting. After completing her studies at Warsaw School of Economics in Warsaw and Nova School of Business in Lisbon, she decided to return to art and established @murandi.art project.
Her work is inspired by landscapes, emotions, and travel, with surfing being a main theme in her paintings.
Her paintings inspire viewers to pay closer attention to the objects and landscapes around them - their textures and colors - and, in doing so, foster deeper reflection on how these elements influence their emotional states and overall well-being.
