About this artwork
Ride, the act of surfing the wave, begins after a successful take-off and drop. It is the essence of surfing – a short moment for which surfers train on land, learn the ocean, paddle through whitewater, wait for waves and endure discomfort of wipeouts. Riding the wave provides a sense of satisfaction, which is simultaneously subdued by the power of the moving mass of water.
This euphoric feeling of success and complete freedom is reflected in the… intense colors of the painting. The reds and oranges pay tribute to fiery sunsets, red tuk-tuks, spicy flavors, and juicy Sri Lankan fruits.
Weronika Bowżyk is an abstract artist specializing in textured painting. After completing her studies at Warsaw School of Economics in Warsaw and Nova School of Business in Lisbon, she decided to return to art and established @murandi.art project.
Her work is inspired by landscapes, emotions, and travel, with surfing being a main theme in her paintings.
Her paintings inspire viewers to pay closer attention to the objects and landscapes around them - their textures and colors - and, in doing so, foster deeper reflection on how these elements influence their emotional states and overall well-being.
