About this artwork
A drop is a millisecond spark of adrenaline ignited by the hope of catching a good wave; a brief moment when the surfer starts riding down the face of the wave. The steepness, speed, and power of the wave can be both exhilarating and terrifying.
It is the point where the effort put into the paddle-out and take-off is rewarded with a quick descent down the wave's face, and the surfer is already in a standing position. A successful drop brings satisfaction… and adrenaline as it marks the beginning of the ride toward the shore, where the dark green leaves of Sri Lankan palm trees emerge on the horizon.
Weronika Bowżyk is an abstract artist specializing in textured painting. After completing her studies at Warsaw School of Economics in Warsaw and Nova School of Business in Lisbon, she decided to return to art and established @murandi.art project.
Her work is inspired by landscapes, emotions, and travel, with surfing being a main theme in her paintings.
Her paintings inspire viewers to pay closer attention to the objects and landscapes around them - their textures and colors - and, in doing so, foster deeper reflection on how these elements influence their emotional states and overall well-being.
