About this artwork
Thanks to the experience Wil Lof gained working as dessinatrice and coloriste in the world of prints for ladies’ fashion, it was not difficult for her to revive the painting of colorful flowers.
Having years of experience in designing and combining the vivid colors and color palette of natural flowers she started a few years ago painting the Series Flowers.
Her most recent collection of flower based paintings are however even more created in an… abstract style but still clearly recognizable as “by the hand of Wil Lof”.
Unlike traditional flower paintings, the autonomous Series Sea of Flowers consists of colorful, large sized oblong paintings featuring abstract compositions.

Style of her Artworks Wilhelmina Lof’s emphasizes on decorative, abstract-styled paintings with dynamic, powerful colours, realized in mixed techniques. The result is a dynamic painting of which the colour balance changes under the available light, warm in the morning light; bright under full sun shine, warm and tender at sunset. Artificial light of variable strength can be used for highlighting.
The 'colour coded' compositions of my works carry the spectator away into speculative or interpretative imaginations of the painting. Many observers characterize her paintings as being esoteric, anthroposophical or even ‘elysian’. Apart from her series of pure abstract and figurative paintings, emphasis is now in combining both styles into mysterious scenes.
