About this artwork
"Carry the Sky, Catch the Earth" is a layered painting by Willem Boronski in which matter, color, and space merge into poetic abstraction. Using multiple layers of paint and paper, Boronski creates a tactile depth, making the surface feel both painterly and sculptural.
Against a predominantly white background, three colored forms—a red, a blue, and a green circle—float like celestial bodies or falling seeds. They seem connected by invisible lines… of tension and motion, as if poised to land or rise.
The red form in the upper left radiates warmth and weight, the central blue suggests calm and depth, while the small green orb on the right subtly anchors the composition to the earth. Between these elements, cracks, scratches, and textures evoke fragility, impact, and the passage of time.
The title highlights the tension between the intangible and the grounded—between sky and soil, lightness and gravity. The work invites stillness and reflection: what do we carry, what do we catch?
Willem Boronski is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, and mixed media, with a strong emphasis on process. His works are defined by masterful layering—a rhythm of building up and peeling away—where abstract fragments subtly merge with figurative elements. Each piece acts as a silent question, evoking themes of existence, memory, and transition. Rather than offering fixed interpretations, Boronski invites viewers into a space of introspection and connection, where meaning unfolds gradually.
