I painted this piece during Pride 2025. It felt as though :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1} came to visit me.
She appeared little by little — as if once again stepping into the gallery, big smile, with a “Hi!” — then proceeded to spread the joy. That is the Marsha I knew.
I wasn’t painting with her in mind at first. I was simply painting — following the forms, the color, and the movement — until finally, there she was.
William Hendricks is a painter and visual artist with a Master of Fine Arts from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, who works in watercolor, gouache, and oil, often on an intimate, small scale. His techniques blend observation and imagination, exploring the balance between precision and looseness, clarity and mystery, incorporating surreal elements, layered textures, and experimental play with light and color. His art radiates a quiet sense of wonder, revealing the hidden mystery and emotional resonance beneath the surface of everyday things, inviting viewers to contemplate presence, discovery, and a search for belonging.
