About this artwork
"Lorem" is the first word of the Latin "Lorem ipsum dolor" passages used as dummy text in typesetting since the 1500s, taken from sections of "On the Ends of Good and Evil" by Cicero, written in 45 BC. When I painted this piece I was using a great deal of dummy text in projects for my design business, so its use as titles seemed appropriate not only from my daily contact with it but also for the anxiety-laden flow of words that was running ceaselessly…
through my mind at the time. My initial concept had all the text in black against a bright background, but my sister made the excellent suggestion of adding color to random characters to break up the mass of dark letters. "Ipsum" and "Dolor" are the two other paintings in the series, with both having been sold to a private collectors.

« I try to create works that will have an appeal on multiple levels, paintings that are still visually striking even if the subtext is difficult to fathom. »
