About this artwork
"Serpahim" is the second DayGlo® piece I did, one in which I was still experimenting with the medium by painting brightly colored F-15 Strike Eagles in flight (aircraft have been a recurring subject of mine over the years). Seraphim are six-winged angels that appear in biblical passages, known as "burning ones" in Hebrew. One might argue that these fighter jets could be interpreted as seraphim -- in a lame, "Ancient Aliens" kind of way -- although…
technically they have six control surfaces, only two of which are considered wings. The reality is I was simply trying to add some Old Testament gravitas to what is an interesting but essentially meaningless image.
