About this artwork
My work as an artist is to sensualize these differences of materials, materials at hand, the model, the air of the moment and the moment itself.
Then the hands take over, forming the forms to embrace the materiality of the moment, “Incorporeal Materiality.”
The emerging form joins the chorus, whispering its own materiality.
Artist observes, listens, smells, feels the moment’s foray, encounters the intense differences of them all.
Then the form… becomes,
stands on its own feet, speaking in its own language that doesn’t represent, is not transcendental, in totality of groundlessness.

Won Lee is an acclaimed Canadian sculptor and painter whose work has featured in prestigious prizes, exhibitions and collections internationally. Through art, he hopes to view the world and objects found within it from a perspective that is free from preconceived concepts. For Lee, this allows for every moment to be authentically realized and experienced. His sculptures primarily explore the human form and ideas about past, present and future.
