About this artwork
This painting is an abstract representation of a half-face. The shapes are deliberately simplified to retain only the essential features: an eye suggested by the white shape, a red line that evokes the profile, and bold colors that structure the whole.
What interested me was the ambiguity of perception. Some viewers will simply see a geometric composition, almost a landscape. But if you look more closely, you discover a face that gradually reveals… itself.
My intention was therefore to play on this shift between abstraction and figuration, between an image that we think we understand and another that hides behind it, so that everyone can project their own interpretation.
Inspired by the innovative works of master painters such as Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Brueghel, as well as by the avant-garde of the Cubist movement and those of stained glass artisans, my artistic universe has gradually taken shape, mixing dreamlike and colorful elements, motifs that are both organic and graphic, and familiar forms that evoke a hidden depth. My studio works, like my interventions on the urban landscape, have one goal: to take those who discover them on a journey. Accustomed to participatory artistic projects, my creations are always accompanied by a human approach, in order to foster social ties, exchange, and enhance a neighborhood and its inhabitants while awakening the senses and curiosity.
