In Close Enough, I reflect on the quiet tension between togetherness and emotional distance—being physically close, yet not fully connected. The figures stand side by side, sharing the same space, while each remains turned inward. Through simplified forms and muted tones, I explore how closeness does not always mean connection, and how silence can exist even when we are not alone.

Xanthi Ioannidou is a self-taught painter whose formative years in the Cyclades, especially Santorini, have left a profound mark on her intuitive, nature-inspired practice. She paints mainly with egg tempera and acrylics on handmade burlap canvases, blending figurative and abstract elements with simplified forms, vibrant color, and rich textures that echo Cycladic symbolism. Her work, charged with introspective poetry, evokes connection, memory, and the quiet yet profound emotions that tie us to places and one another.
