About this artwork
All these paintings on the single subject retrace the artist's interest in attracting the attention of the spectator in the shadows where the thoughts that life leaves behind accumulate. But would we have given the slightest interest to these so-called anthropological objects if they had not been staged by the artist? We can see that Xavier Vantaggi's painting contains psychotemporal content,
he retranscribes to us a way of telling the spectator… by plastic means what is for him the desire to transmit a certain aesthetic subject to the cruel passage of time. The concept of time developed by the artist is that the painted thing produces another impression than if it were photographed, which is not an exact resemblance of the subject but the temporal reflection on the resemblance.

« A painting is a dreaming machine because it is first and foremost a thinking machine. »
Xavier Vantaggi, a multidisciplinary artist based in France, whose diverse works focus on three themes: the time to look, the time to understand, and the time to conclude. He describes his paintings as "empty of any presence and of a decisive moment". Vantaggi's light-stripped compositions are created using mixed techniques and are enhanced with pastels, he also employs acrylics and oils on canvas or wood.
