About this artwork
A Japanese guitarist friend, Sin'ichi Isohata, gave me a diptych by Hiroyo Kotani, Japanese painter living in Osaka. She had also produced the cover for the latest album by Sin'ichi Isohata and Otomo Yoshihide (Existence 2013). The diptych produced in ink, on rice paper, is a work of finesse and games of transparency resolutely contemporary but inspired by traditional Japanese caligraphy. The delicacy of the lines and the architecture of the lines…
charged with great energy and the musical richness of the album Existence inspired me for this painting.

« Painting is the shortest path in conveying my emotions. »
Yannick Diraison transcribes his emotions through painting. The French musician and painter associates his art with music, which has been an essential part of his life since childhood. As Diraison's paintings have become more abstract in nature, so too has his music. Using mixed techniques, he creates using acrylics, oils, oil pastels, charcoal, raw pigments, and resin on canvas or linen.
