In a subtle departure from his more abstract ‘mindscapes’, Ha reinterprets the tradition of Chinese shanshui landscape paintings in this piece with the use of alcohol ink. Adopting a more meticulous method as opposed to his usual style, Ha creates a sense of layering and majesty by marking out a distinct foreground, midground and background, along with the gradation of dark to light and resulting in a largely hierarchical composition.
