About this artwork
The longing for nature’s pure, original state is deeply rooted in the human heart. We feel more alive when surrounded by nature than we do in our everyday urban environments. Nature’s original beauty is increasingly overshadowed by these risks, distancing it from the pristine essence that humans so deeply cherish. Perhaps Earth itself fears the loss of all its beauty.
At the heart of this radiant, unspoiled nature, we gently place a crown. This crown… is ourselves, shining brighter than anything around us. Traditionally a symbol of authority, my crown, in an idealistic sense, represents self-respect and pride. It’s not merely a decoration of gold and jewels; it’s an acknowledgment of the life I’ve lived, every challenge I’ve overcome, and all the moments that have shaped me. It’s the highest praise I can give myself—a pure celebration of my life’s journey. Through this crown, I honor myself, value every chapter of my life, and draw strength to keep moving forward.
Yejin Shin is a painter with a rich background in fine art and fashion design, blending western painting techniques with design sensibilities from her studies in South Korea and the United States. She employs acrylics on canvas, often incorporating mixed media and sparkling Swarovski crystals to create textured, multidimensional surfaces. Her style elegantly merges the symbolic motif of the crown with elements of pristine nature, portraying an idealized longing for beauty and strength. Through her luminous and intricate artworks, she evokes feelings of hope, resilience, and a deep yearning to reconnect with the original beauty of nature.
