About this artwork
This painting was painted in 2020, during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
That year, we stood in line to buy masks,
and I lost my job.
I, who used to enjoy taking walks every day, was stuck at home and couldn't do anything.
I was far away from my beloved friends, family, exhibitions, and eating out.
This painting is a painting I made to remember the moment when my heart hit rock bottom.
I dedicate this painting to everyone who is holding… on in the dark and quiet place below the abyss.

Yeongee is a Shaman and painter, her work reflecting her spiritual journey post-mental health diagnosis. She employs a fairy-tale style - soft brushes, warm colors, and delicate details, imbuing it with a sense of comfort, yet an unsettling aura. The 'spiritual fantasy' she presents unravels the unseen - gods, spirits, the human psyche - through endearingly dreamlike, yet profound canvases. Her artistry stirs a sense of calm and introspection, sparking intrigue about the mythical and hidden realms beyond reality.
